Former Texas State slugger Paul Goldschmidt is having quite the rookie season for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Goldschmidt hit a grand slam Tuesday night against the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Divisional Series. It was Goldschmidt’s second home run of the series, and the first postseason grand slam in team history.
There wouldn’t have been a chance for a grand slam if Milwaukee chose not to walk Arizona catcher Miguel Montero in order to get to Goldschmidt. Brewers pitcher Shaun Marcum got ahead of Goldschmidt, but a 1-2 fastball found too much of the plate and the former Bobcat standout crushed it.
Goldschmidt finished 2-for-5 with a single, the home run and five runs batted in (which tied a team record for a postseason game).
